I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional. I work with children, teens, adults, couples and families. I am experienced in working with those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, domestic violence, abuse, relationships, parenting, behavioral issues, grief, self-identity, LGBTQ issues, substance abuse, caregiver stress, adoption, and other difficult life situations.
I feel that I naturally connect with people easily and provide empathy and validation. I provide a safe and non-judgmental space and meet my clients where they are. I actively try to understand my client’s point of view and am accepting of their feelings and emotions. I use foster a collaborative and autonomous relationship with each client. I find that I am a strong support for my clients. I am committed to providing compassion, support, and encouragement to help each client work towards a sense of personal growth to create a healthier, happier, better quality of life. I utilize play and activities with children to engage them in treatment and build social and emotional skills. I have a strong understanding of family and relationship dynamics.
Background and Approach
I began my career as a social worker providing services for the foster children and their families who were in DCFS custody. I also worked with Guardian Angel Community Services where I provided services to the victims of the domestic violence.
Clinical approaches and treatment modalities I use include: Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), culturally sensitive, and strengths-based approaches.
