Vessela offers expert, compassionate, individualized counseling bringing over 10 years of experience in working with children, teens, adults and their families with a variety of issues.  She offers trauma informed care and advocacy of your needs.

Vessela works with children, teens and adults struggling with adjustment, anger issues, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, problem-solving, emotional difficulties, behavioral problems, social difficulties and challenges in life. She has extensive background in providing services for those with a history of mental health struggles, abuse and trauma, difficulties with family relationships and those at risk of psychiatric hospitalization. She specializes in working with children and teens and utilizes play therapy, art modalities and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy to resolve trauma, anxiety and other emotional and behavioral issues. She also works to resolve social and academic issues. With adults, she uses CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based therapy and exposure therapies to overcome a number of issues. 

Experience & Approach

Vessela gained her experience working in community mental health and outpatient mental health settings. She has served in a supervisory and managerial capacity in these settings as well. She received a post graduate specialization in Psychology in Bulgaria, her graduate degree in counseling at Lewis University, and obtained her undergraduate degree and a Master’s of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and Development in Russia.

Vessela enjoys gardening and spending time with her family. She speaks Bulgarian and Russian fluently.
