Sarah Bathan, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who enjoys working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process where clients are the experts of their own lives, and my role is to support, guide, and challenge them. I also believe that two things can be true at the same time—people can accept themselves and their experiences as they are while also working toward change. The best part of therapy is the strong connection between the therapist and client—it’s what sparks growth and helps clients use what they’ve learned to make lasting improvements in their lives.
I strive to create a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where clients feel truly heard andunderstood. As a compassionate listener, I approach each session with empathy, authenticity, andan open mind. My goal is to help clients feel supported as they navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and develop the tools they need to thrive.
Training, Experience, & Approach
I believe that healing happens in a space of acceptance. I strive to meet each client where they are with kindness, patience, and understanding. I tailor my approach to each client’s individual needs, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical BehaviorTherapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness. I am also passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ youth and providing an affirming, inclusive space where they can explore their identities, build resilience, and feel seen and supported.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Aurora University, specializing in School-Based Social Work. With over a decade of experience working in schools, I have a deep understanding of educational settings and the unique challenges children, adolescents, and families face. I have gained valuable experience with special education laws and procedures and can assist parents in understanding and navigating school-based supports, including 504 Plans and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
